Ans: - According to the Factories Act, of 1948, before registering a factory, a plant must receive clearance from the labour and employment department for its building plan.

  1. How can I renew my factory license online in Assam?

Ans: - Step 1: Please visit the official portal homepage of the Labour and Welfare Inspectorate of Factories, Assam.

Step 2: Click on “Online Services” tab on the home screen of the page.

Step 3: Apply for site appraisal and click on the apply button under the apply online option.

Step 4: Now, the applicant will be redirected to the login page, where the user has to provide valid credentials if already registered as an existing user and then click on “Sign in” button.

Step 5: If not already registered as the existing user the applicant has to click on Register here link, where the new user registration page will open up on the next page.

Step 6: Fill up the form to create an account with the details such as

  • Applicant name
  • Email address
  • Mobile number
  • Username(as your choice)
  • Password

Step 7: After filing the form click on the “Submit” button and then the current page will get back to the previous login page. You need to provide your credentials to login into the portal.

Step 8: You need to select the type of business from the following options and then click on the “Submit” button.

Step 9: The common application form regarding your business will appear then the user needs to fill the form with the details like enterprise details, applicant details, other details and upload section and click on “save and next” button to proceed further.

Step 10:  Then the applicant has to fill up the application form for site appraisal with the appropriate details and then upload the required documents.

Step 11: Then the applicant has to make the Payment can be made done through either offline or online mode.

Step 12: you can make payment offline through the generating the Challan and go to the treasury for approval and pay in the designated bank and upload the copy of the payment receipt in the online form and submit the same.

Step 13: To make payment online click on Pay online button and select your payment mode online banking or debit card or credit card.

Step 14: Once payment details are submitted online an acknowledgement number will be generated with the unique application identification number. This Unique application identification number will be used for further reference and for tracking your form to know your application status.

Ans: - Section 6 of Factories act actually empowers the government to make the rules for registrations/ licensing/ construction/ extension for the factories.
